Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Seekers and Planners tables.

Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
